Hands-on Sprinkler WorkshopJuly 8, 2017 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Instructor: Rick Maloy- Central Utah Water

This introductory workshop is for those who want to gain a better understanding of their sprinkler system. Come and learn about different sprinkler types and sprinkler parts, as well as the tools needed to work with them. Learn how to fix broken sprinklers, and discover how easy it is to convert existing sprinklers to drip irrigation.

Now that you’ve had the introductory 101 course, it’s time to delve into more details of creating your own Utah-friendly landscape. You will learn how to create a base map for your yard and gain a better understanding of the central open shape concept, gathering and activity areas, and connecting with paths. It’s preferable, but not required, to have taken Localscapes 101.

Kids Classes

Fairy & Gnome GardensJuly 12, 2017 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Instructor: McCoard's Garden Center

If you build it, will they come? Children can learn about plants by creating and caring for their own little gardens made just for fairies or gnomes. This class will teach children how to make a small garden and some fun accessories to go in it. Geared towards children ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

Instructor: Monica Hoyt-Central Utah Water

Learn about the properties of water by observing fun experiments! See water change colors right before your eyes! Discover the difference between acids and bases. Gain an understanding of the effects of acid rain. Geared toward ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

What does it mean to be water smart? How does Utah’s growing population affect how we choose to use our water? This class will educate children on the important roles water plays in their lives and will help them identify things they can do to use it wisely. Geared towards children ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.
